Fairly good summary of Hare’s work

Vulcan

Found a link up on hare.org.  It’s a reprint of a magazine article.  If you want to read an article instead of a whole book to get a general idea of Robert Hare’s work, this is a good one to read.

Among many things it talks about the shelved reform plan for Canadian inmates.  Seems very much like the core idea I had for a code.  Using selfish logic instead of emotional mapping for therapy sessions.

The problem of course is that you are intentionally helping them progress into a sociopath, but it will be effective simply because you are helping them leave the ego, aka:ASPD, aka:violent stage.  But compared to teaching them how to better manipulate empaths as ‘progress’ in group therapy, it’s a major improvement.

Interestingly this may be where Jeff Lindsay came up with Dexter.  Not a big leap to a ‘selfish’ code from Hare’s prison reform system.  I also think Gene Roddenberry may have stumbled(?) onto a similar answer and expressed it with the Vulcan’s near self destruction and subsequent ruthless dedication to logic over impulse in Star Trek.
